PRESENTATION OF ANNUAL SUNRISE ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS The Rotary Club of Cambridge Sunrise established The Sunrise Rotary Scholarship Award which is awarded annually to post-secondary students in Cambridge who have demonstrated a combination of academic merit, exemplary humanitarian service and established financial need. This will be our thirteenth year presenting one or more $1,500 Scholarship Awards to exceptional students in Cambridge as chosen by the Sunrise Rotary Scholarship Committee. Please join us for the presentation to two remarkable students. |

Peer Addiction Recovery Support

Ms Jess Halliday joined the hospital at the end of February as part of a new partnership between the hospital and Stonehenge Therapeutic Community. Cambridge is now one of the first hospitals in the province to offer to peer addiction-recovery support in its emergency department. Also joining us from Cambridge Memorial Hospital will be Chief of Staff at CMH Dr. Kunuk Rhee, Director of Emergency and Mental Health Rita Sharrat and Katelyn Young from Stonehenge

Bees and Bee Keeping in Ontario

Ontario has one of the best bee programs in North America and it is the result of the Ontario Beekeepers Association (OBA), OMAFRA Bee Program and the University of Guelph Honey Bee Research Programs, and now the Ontario Tech-Transfer Program working together that has led to this success. Doug McRory has travelled to every corner of the Province where honey bees are kept. He keeps 300 bee hives in 19 bee yards and loves to visit with beekeepers and friends. |

Keith Clarke was a Rotary Exchange Student to Takoka Japan in 1994-1995, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Galt. Recently the host club ‘Takaoka-Manyo Rotary Club’ celebrated its 25th anniversary and invited all their past exchange students to attend. Keith and his wife Jen, a Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Cambridge Sunrise, travelled to Japan in April of this year to attend the celebration, visit Keith’s host families, and tour Takaoka. Jen is a past Rotary International Exchange Student as well, having lived in Bolivia in 1996-1997. On August 16th, Keith & Jen will share the highlights of their Japanese trip with us, as well as share the benefits of the Rotary International Exchange Student Program. |

This is a 100% charitable global community of volunteers & partners who have transformed the lives of over 1.5 million children in developing countries by providing bedkits for a good night’s sleep. These kits consists of a mat or mattress, pillow, sheet, blanket, mosquito net, clothes outfit, towel and school supplies. |

Margriet worked as a volunteer for Ekenywa. (www.ekenywa.org). The people on the ground who run the organization are Ashley and Chris Gasperi, both Rotarians. Margreit will tell us about their work, to bring water and sanitation to schools in poor, rural areas of Kenya. |
