Congratulations to Cambridge Sunrise Rotarian Dr. Mike Lawrie, District Governor 7080 for 2020-2021
Rotary District 7080 recently celebrated the end of the 2019-2020 Rotary year, with many thanks to Past District Governor Lesley Barmania, and welcomed the 2020-2021 District Governor, Dr. Mike Lawrie.
On June 23, over 150 Rotarians from District 7080 joined a Zoom call to celebrate with a District Changeover Event. With guest speaker Michael Caruso, from the Rotary Club of Troy Michigan, Rotarians enjoyed a social-distance approved party honouring all of the successes and hard work of the past year, and welcomed the new Rotary year at the same time.

Dr. Mike is the first District Governor to come from the Rotary Club of Cambridge Sunrise, and  provided the large (Zoom) gathering of Rotarians with an introduction to his theme for the year, which could be summarized as 'Healthy Self - Healthy Community - Healthy World'. Reflecting upon the challenges brought upon everyone with the COVID-19 pandemic, the theme is timely and certainly provides much-needed guidance and focus.

Within this Rotary year theme, Dr. Mike encourages everyone to 'Take care of: self, each other, and the planet'.
  • Self, includes body, mind and spirit.
  • Each other, includes healthy relationships with family, family of Rotary & Rotaract, and all people.
  • Taking care of the planet, has just been announced as the new and seventh area of Rotary focus - the Environment.
Dr. Mike is a retired family physician and long-time resident of Cambridge. He's been a Rotarian since 1987 and is a returning fundraiser and participant for the 'Ride to Conquer Cancer'.

Thank you Past District Governor Lesley, and Congratulations District Governor Dr. Mike.
