Cambridge Roadside Clean-Up - July 2020

Rotary Club of Cambridge Sunrise Adopt-a-Road Clean-Up

By Dave Banks | July 18, 2020

On Saturday, July 18th, 2020 ten (10) members of The Rotary Club of Cambridge Sunrise and two (2 guests) undertook a road clean-up on Franklin Boulevard between Can-Amera Parkway and Avenue Road in Cambridge as part of the Region of Waterloo’s Adopt-a-Road Program. Despite the heat and humidity, a good time was had by all involved in the operation.

This was the second time the Club has participated in the program. The Club will be cleaning up this section of road two (2) times per year: in the spring and fall.

It took approximately one and one-half (1 ½) hours to complete the clean-up. In total we collected fourteen (14) bags of trash mainly paper, coffee cups, styrofoam pieces, etc. This year the only interesting article picked up was a lot of wire that had been stripped for its copper.

It was good to see that once again the cleanest section road was directly in front of and across from St. Benedict’s school.

We were once again gratified to be noticed by the drivers on Franklin Boulevard who honked their support or yelled out their windows to thank us for our efforts.

We look forward to doing this again either in the fall or in the spring.
