On Saturday, October 5th, 2019 eleven (11) members of The Rotary Club of Cambridge Sunrise undertook a road clean-up on Franklin Boulevard between Can-Amera Parkway and Avenue Road in Cambridge as part of the Region of Waterloo’s Adopt-a-Road Program. A good time was had by all involved in the operation.

This was the first time the Club has participated in the program. The Club will be cleaning up this section of road two (2) times per year in the spring and fall.

It took a little over two (2) hours to complete the clean-up. In total we collected nine (9) bags of trash mainly paper, coffee cups, styrofoam pieces, etc. However, we found some interesting articles along the way – clothes, glasses, a hub cap, one (1) needle with no point, and two (2) dead rats.

It was good to see that the cleanest section road was directly in front of and across from St. Benedict’s school. We suspect that the school has been pro-active in keeping this area clean on both sides of the road.

We were gratified to be noticed by the drivers on Franklin Boulevard who honked their support or yelled out their windows to thank us for our efforts.

We look forward to doing this again in the spring.
